When it comes to porcelain, Philip Rosenthal was a genuine pioneer. The Studio Line, and more, is owed to his vision and eye for future classics. For his 100th birthday, an anniversary set has been released containing the following classics from the collections:
Suomi, TAC and Moon.
Timo Sarpaneva for Rosenthal
Interested in collaborating with artists, designers and architects from early on, a successful cooperation came about in 1976 with Finnish designer Timo Sarpaneva for the Suomi crockery series. Sarpaneva is renowned for his concentration on only the essentials and impresses with elegance and purism in this design. He drew inspiration from the smooth pebbles of the Finnish coasts for the simple, organic shapes of the crockery pieces, which also led to the series’ name. The set appears beautifully shaped and commanding, which Sarpanevan, for good reason, won the gold medal at Faenza - the highest award for porcelain.
Even today, Suomi still counts as one of the most successful services of Rosenthal’s studio-line. The eight-piece anniversary set is available in two different variations. Both include 2 dinner plates, 2 soup bowls and 2 breakfast plates. As a special gift, you can also choose between 2 cereal bowls or 2 mugs.
