Set of Soup Plates and Dinner Plates The Suomi Dining Table Set by Rosenthal
It was designed by the Finn Timo Sarpaneva in 1976, but the elegance of the dinner set is still current today. The dinner set from the Rosenthal Suomi collections consists of six dinner plates and six soup plates. Sarpaneva was inspired by the round, soft shape of pebble stones on the coast of Finland when he designed the compact, organic shape of the Rosenthal set: this gives the series its name.
Suomi is Scandinavian purism for design enthusiasts, perfect in shape and majesty. The individual parts of the Suomi collection were reduced to their essentials, so that they can be used for many different purposes. Thanks to the shape of his Suomi series, Timo Sarpaneva was amongst others awarded the Gold Medal by Faenza, the highest award in the world of porcelain. Suomi is one of the most successful Rosenthal studio line sets.
