Description

In spring they waddle proudly through Copenhagen: mother duck and her child.

So it was also in 1959 that traffic stood still in the town of Frederiksberg, close to the Danish capital, because a policeman gave traffic priority to a young duck family. This unusual and powerful moment was found documented the next day in photos in all daily newspapers in the country.

The scene was branded into collective Danish consciousness and has since then stood as a symbol of love and care for nature in the northern country. What does that have to do with Hans Bølling’s wooden figurines? The pause of the modern world didn’t leave architects cold either. Thus he made a tribute to the rescued duck family. He designed this mother duck and duckling for ArchitectMade, which bears the essence of the peaceful and harmonious Danish spring. And their mild, wooden curves spread serenity and harmony wherever they waddle.Just like back then at the beginning of 1959.
