With his soft gaze and his round, sturdy body, the Kay Bojesen Wooden Elephant by Kay Bojesen Denmark has already cast a spell on many people. The cute wooden elephant is a true classic for kids as well as adults.
The wooden elephant consists of solid oak wood. Thanks to the material’s high quality and its exceptional workmanship, Kay Bojesen’s legendary design brings enjoyment to playing from generation to generation. The wooden elephant is part of a collection of wooden animals which the designer Kay Bojesen developed between 1935 and 1957. Today the Danish company Rosendahl Design Group manufactures the wooden animals in close cooperation with Kay Bojesen’s family.
Not only in children’s rooms, but also on shelves and in offices, the wooden animals from Kay Bojesen have meanwhile become treasured collector's items that are passed from one generation to another. This is why the animals are meant as a gift idea for anywhere you can live or play:
Baptisms, birthdays, confirmations, graduations, weddings, and anniversaries. Throughout his entire life, Bojesen paid homage to his mantra that great design should be human, warm and vivid:
“They should be reminiscent of a circus,” he used to say about his works, of which his wooden creatures count among the most popular. With his user-friendly and modern design, Kay Bojesen is counted among the greatest Danish functionalists. In his naive designs, form and object melt together, and seriousness and game become one. At the same time, Bojesen possessed the unique power of giving life to wood, which turned his work into international design icons.
