Ruutu is a collection of glass vases, which completes the Iittala assortment of mouth-blown vases. Ruutu was created by the popular designer brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.
The flowing, mouth-blown glass and the shiny quality of the flat surface result in an elegant combination with the geometrical shape. The simple contures and the beautiful colours demand to be arranged in a group.
Ruutu might have a simple shape, but that’s the reason why the production of the vases needs experienced glass-blowers, which perfectly dominate their work.
”Iittala knows very well how to mani-pulate colours. In Ruutu, we were able to create a delicate, watercolour-like palettes that intermingle with each other when com-bining sizes and colours. Ruutu allows a game of composition.
We wanted to show the sophisticated range of Iittala colours while at the same time handing the job over to the user who will feel tempted to have several modules to create his or her own individual assemblage.”, explained Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec about their work at the project for the Finnish manufacture Iittala.
The Ruutu Vases are available in two sizes: 115 mm and 205 mm with different heights and colours. Also in our blog:
