Art Prints of Awarded Architecture
The brothers Mogens and Flemming Lassen belong to the greatest functionalists of Denmark with their characteristic architecture.
The art print of House of Future shows a trend-setting architectural project, which wasn’t only the start of Flemming Lassen’s career, but also an ascent of the great Arne Jacobsen. The “House of Future” – or the original name: “Fremtidens Hus” – won the eponymous competition of designing a house for the future in 1927. A model of the House of Future was built in Copenhagen two years later: Not only new construction and material techniques such as the spherical form out of concrete with flat roofs were revolutionary.
Visionary Ideas from the 1920s
The House of Future had a helicopter landing platform as well as a boathouse, blinds to wind down like those in a car, a foot mat with integrated vacuum cleaner and a pneumatic posts system according to the original design. The antenna on the roof should later server to get energy wirelessly. A big common room and enormous glass surfaces should make the House of Future bright and friendly. Arne Jacobsen’s love for round, swung forms was already displayed in this soon phase, which would later make him famous.
This icon of architecture, which then emerged far from the German Bauhaus movements, was now honoured with the art print House of Future with by Lassen and Kristina Dam. And legendary architecture can enter every house.
