Tea Light Holder by Oiva Toikka
The Kastehelmi votives first introduced in 1964 by littala are meanwhile legendary. While they were still real revolutions in glass making at that time they have in the meantime matured to become classics.
The Kastehelmi votives by Iittala unify two elements: Water and Fire. The word “Kastehelmi” means “dewdrop” in Finnish. The hot flame and the cool dewdrop create wonderful reflections which come from this ambience light.
This is how the Kastehelmi votives became one of the earlier most successful series from littala until production was stopped in 1988. Oiva Toikka tried to find a method of hiding the seams in pressed glass in the 60s. This is how he had the idea of putting small glass drops on the seams. His experiment developed into a completely new design which has now been reissued by littala. The Kastehelmi votives by Oiva Toikka are available in many atmospheric colours.
