An ornamental wall picture
The Tree of Life is a motif designed by Alexander Girard. It was part of a building for his exhibition in 1968. The exhibition was called "The Magic of a People" and the Tree of Life graced the visitior’s entrance as a powerful ornament.
The Tree of Life plays an important role in the mythologies of many peoples and belongs to their cosmic order. It stands in the center of the world and connects with its roots and tops heaven, Earth and the underworld.
Mulit-layered print on steel
The graphic wall panel by Vitra is a replica of the Tree of Life from 1968 and is supposed to serve, just like his role model, as a wall decoration. Made of powder-coated steel, the surface was printed with multiple layers, which gives an enamel-like, three-dimensional surface of the picture.Also in our blog:
