The E60 stool by Artek is a timeless classic that perfectly suits as a stool or a side table, being easily inserted in all kinds of existing furnishings.
The four-legged E60 stool was designed by Alvar Aalto being a furniture icon like his three-legged brother (stool 60). Aalto’s stackable stools were presented in the year 1933 for the first time becoming revolutionary because they did not consist of the classic steel, but of bended, massive birch veneer, just like Artek still manufactures them today.
The well-known L-form that is to find in nearly every object that Alvar Aalto designed is also seen in this stool. Initially the manufacturing bend-technique impressed because of its manufacture, the same that is still used. This procedure consists of cutting a piece of massive birch wood in the fibre direction, building a fan. Small plywood pieces are then glued making its bending earlier by heating the wood. That is why this material is unsurpassed stabile.
The timeless stool E60 by Artek consists of birch wood and it is available bright, black or white lacquered. Furthermore the stool’s seat is available in several versions: white laminate, black linoleum as well as upholstered with cloth or leather.
