The eponymous birch tree (Swed. Björk), which grows everywhere in Sweden, was the source of inspiration for the designer Lena Bergström for her Björk stool. The expression of the woven structure comes from the black-white colour of the trees, while the leather handles represent the inside of the tree bark.
The Björk stool by Design House Stockholm forms a natural, textile surface, which adds a hint of nature to every ambience. “Björk is like a poem for me, a soft whisper in the room”, explained the Swedish designer about the soft and weightless appearance of her Björk series for Design House Stockholm.
Design House Stockholm produces the Björk stool with upholstery made out of PU foam and a Styrofoam core. The cover is made out of wool and has a unique melange pattern. Moreover, the stool has an accent handle made of leather. The materials are naturally robust and dirt-repellent; however, the manufacturer suggests having rug specialists do any cleaning. The Björk stool is perfectly suitable to be used as a spontaneous seat or as foot stool. It is available in two sizes, each in light grey and dark grey.
