The history of the elastic fabric Tonus already started in the 1960s. Many improvements have been made along the years until the fabric reached the quality it has today.
Back then the Tonus fabric designed by Nina Koppel consisted of 60% viscose, 30% wool and 10% nylon then. That quality however, wasn’t enough for the Danish manufacturer Kvadrat, so they looked for improvements.
Meanwhile Tonus consists of 90% pure new wool and 10% Helanca. This material mixture characterised the quality sustainably in a positive way: Tonus is a textile which equally scores with its elasticity and robustness. This makes Tonus the ideal cover fabric for organic and complex formed furniture pieces.
The Tonus fabric by Kvadrad resists 100.000 Martindale. It can be cleaned with a dry cloth, steam or with perchlorine and ironed at a medium temperature. The certificate of the Greenguard Environmental Institute ensures that the room's air quality it not affected.
