Alvar Aalto designed the kitchen chair K65 for the Finnish company Artek in the year 1937; it is still manufactured in its original form. Alvar Aalto’s designs made their way around the world becoming well-known for everyone.
Like nearly every object that Alvar Aalto designed, the kitchen chair K65 possesses the characteristic and organic L-form. The specific L-leg was already designed and patented by Aalto in the year 1932. The bended birch veneer that make Aalto’s furniture this special meant a revolution in its beginning; because the bending-technique that was invented by Aalto himself guarantees an unsurpassed stability.
