The Eames Plastic Side Chair, which was designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1950, is a contemporary version of the legendary Fibreglass Chair. It was developed in cooperation with Zenith Plastics for the Museum of Modern Arts' "Low Cost Furniture Design" competition and was the first factory-made chair out of plastic.
The organically shaped seat of the Vitra DSR Chair is connected to the metal base with integrated "Shock Mounts". This makes it possible to relax and sit comfortably for long periods of time. Whether in privacy, restaurants, waiting rooms, offices, conference rooms, or large halls, the DSR Eames Plastic Side Chair fits into all kinds of surroundings.
Since 2015, the classic chair is available with a new seat height of 43 cm, so that the production of the chair is slowly adjusted to the growing average body size.
Please note: The Eames Plastic Side Chair DSR is delivered with white or black felt pads depending on the ordered base. Plastic pads are also available. If you desire a different seat, base or pad colour, please contact our customer service. Also in our blog:
