Design chair
The Eames Plastic Side Chair is the contemporaneous production of the legendary fibreglass chair. It emerged in cooperation with Zenith Plastics for the "Low Cost Furniture Design" competition at the Museum of Modern Art and it was the first industrially made chair of plastic. This is how the Eames Chair is more than just a piece of furniture - it is a piece of cultural history. The different seats and bases are the reasons why the multipurpose chair appears to be usable for many rooms. A real all-rounder in homes and private places.
Timeless design
The organic shaped seat is connected to the metal base with integrated “Shock Mounts” which give you a relaxing and very comfortable sitting feeling. Whether in private, restaurants, waiting rooms, offices, conference rooms, or large halls, the Eames Plastic Side Chair DSX (Dining Height Side Chair X-Base) fits in all kinds of situations.
Classic shapes - new seat heights
The numerous seats, bases, cushions, and colours allow the Eames Plastic Side Chair to be individually combined. The classic shape of the chairs thereby remains unchanged. Vitra produces the bases of the Eames Chairs with new heights of 43 cm. This is how Vitra reacts to the changing average body size - by adding more comfort to its chairs.
The low height difference is the reason why the chairs of the classic and new heights can easily be combined, in order to compliment groups of chairs that already exist.
