The 111 Navy Chair is the result of the Emeco and Coca-Cola Company collaboration. Both companies have combined their classic products to this new chair, the Navy Chair on the one hand and nonreturnable bottles on the other one.
The main idea from the 111 Navy Chair is to recycle: every 111th Navy Chair from Emeco is made of approximately 111 recycled Coke bottles, therefore its name. Adjacent to the 60% recycled nonreturnable bottles; the Navy Chair is also composed of materials such as fibreglass that act as an additional steadiness factor.
The 111 Navy Chair shows that recycling mustn’t necessarily be the reuse of waste, it shows that from second hand products, new products can emerge, that involve high quality and great design without being inferior to the competition.
The 111 Navy Chair design is based on Emeco’s classic 1944 Navy Chair 1006. The chair was the headstone for Emeco’s success. With the 111 Navy Chair, Emeco and Coca Cola transformed something that people throw away in something long lasting.
To support recycling is Emeco’s and Coca-Cola’s collective goal. Both companies home to produce 111 Navy Chairs with three million nonreturnable bottles a year.
