The Steelwood chair by Magis is a response to the spreading trend of manufacturing plastic chairs. Although Magis has also designed many plastic objects over the course of its history, this time for the designers it was about progress and producing something new and different.
The French designers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec developed the Steelwood chair, as the name suggests, from metal and wood. The seat and legs are made of solid beech wood, while the back and armrests consist of metal. Together both materials form an exceptional chair that breaks with conventions. The wood and metal stand in contrast to each other and yet complete each other perfectly.
In contrast to plastic chairs, Steelwood by Magis develops its own character over time and gets better from year to year.
The Steelwood chair with armrests from Magis is available in four different variations. The backrest is made of steel sheet, and the seat and legs are made of solid beech wood.
