Verner Panton was always famous for his designs, which surprise despite of the clear shapes. The Cone Table is one of these designs: Watched from above, it is a round couch table. From the sides however, the table by Vitra astonishes: The table board thereby lies on the tip and reminds us of a pushpin. The Cone Table was ahead of the time with the bribing clearness sin design.
Vitra manufactures the Cone Table with a foot of stainless steel and a table top of HPL, with an all-surrounding plastic edge. One can only guess how futuristic and provocative the design “carried so far” impressed in the year of its launch in 1958. But it is a fact that the couch table made by Vitra looks gorgeous combined with the Panton Cone Chairs.
