The Danish manufacturer Hay invited the design brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec in order to create a collection for the re-designed University of Copenhagen (KUA). The result is the Copenhague series, which consists of a chair, a barstool and diverse tables.
Hay and the Bouroullecs tried to design furniture for a school institution which would clearly belong to our time in form and identity and which would fulfil the demands of a University. That’s the reason why the Copenhague dining table is very functional, but without getting too serious in its expression.
There emerged this collection, since it was important to the designers to create something different to traditional furniture in schools with their Copenhague dining table CPH150 and to design objects with bigger originality and a more homely appeal. Hay produces the Copenhague dining table out of oak wood, further variants are also available
