The Lounge Chair Ray was one of the first pieces of furniture to be put into production by the young Danish design manufacturer Hay; and it is Jakob Wagner's first design for an armchair. The source of inspiration for Ray was the sea, and the simple, elegant form of the fish whose name he has in common with, the Ray.
The seating area is wide, but the Lounge Chair still looks light, and just like the Manta Ray fish. Ray is thicker in the middle and becomes narrower at the "wing tips". The results is softer upholstery and more seating comfort. The end of the seat makes it possible to place a plate or a magazine next to you or to put your legs up comfortably.
With this harmony of form and function, Ray gave the direction that Hay had already established in the design scene after only a few years: the perfect balance of Scandinavian tradition and modernity characterize the entire collection of the Danish manufacturer from Horsens.
Ray is also available as swivel chair. Furthermore there are other fabrics and colors available at an additional charge.
