Armchair at lounge height
The LAR (LAR = Lounge Height Armchair, Rod Base) by Vitra was already produced in 1950 by Charles & Ray Eames. It is part of the iconic Plastic Chairs series, which at the time became known as the first series-produced plastic chair series in furniture history and is now one of the most iconic seating furniture in the world.
The LAR seems to have been one of Charles' and Ray's favourite designs: In pictures of the Eames' home, the chair can be seen again and again both indoors and outdoors. This also shows how light the armchair is and how easy it is to transport. With its compact dimensions, the Plastic Chair LAR is also suitable for use in smaller rooms.
The seat shell is made of dyed polypropylene. The base frame with struts is made of chrome-plated or powder-coated basic dark steel. Available in various colours and also with seat upholstery or full upholstery, this results in countless combinations for your own four walls or public areas such as offices or cafés.
