Clouds is a colourful, innovative and individual interior design element for your home.
The internationally renowned designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have collaborated with Kvadrat to create this innovative concept for the home: Clouds, an interlocking system of textile modules. Clouds can be fixed as an installation on the wall or ceiling.
Clouds creates a unique, three-dimensional effect and evolves further with every element which is added.
The inviting irregular surface inspires the owning of art works, and turns visions into reality. This is because the appeal of Clouds ultimately relies on individual expression.
The modules each consist of one element and are joined together by special elastic bands. Whether a simple design or a complex, decorative room divider or wall - a unique work can be created quickly and extremely easily.
The modules can be assembled simply according to personal preference and are always bringing new ideas into the home.
It was the work on the North Tiles, another collaboration with Kvadrat, which gave the two French designers the inspiration for the Clouds concept - a simpler version than North Tiles for use at home.
“Every now and then, when I browse a design or architecture magazine, I often get a scare from all these cold rooms”, admits Ronan Bouroullec.
He explains further: “When we received the order from Kvadrat, we therefore wanted to create a design solution which was soft and inviting. It was also our goal to find a solution which was so simple and well though-out that it wouldn't require any expensive craftsmen, but could be hung up by normal people without having to be polished, adjusted, or treated further”.
Anders Byriel, Kvadrat’s director, believes that soft fabrics are finding their way back into public buildings and private households:
“Over the years, people tended to use less textiles. Just like rugs, curtains have disappeared, even our chairs have plaited seats and backrests, and all furnishings are made of glass, concrete, stone or wood, all of which are lovely but rather hard materials. But the development is changing direction. More and more people are discovering that the soft material doesn't only feel soft but is also aesthetically beautiful and has a great influence on the acoustics in our rooms. In recent years it has become clear to us how important noise level is for our daily well-being”, explains Anders Byriel.
Each element of Clouds has two-toned. The front and the back are each in one of the colours of the chosen version.
