The name for his - 1979/1984 designed - shelf borrowed Philippe Starck the Science Fiction Novelle "Ubik" of Philip K. Dick. Mac Gee is a timeless beautiful creation, made in cooperation with Baleri Italia (once Cerruti Baleri) in the beginning time of Starcks career.
The book shelf reminds of a blade profile of an airplane, which stands on a wall. The single brims were arranged vertically and overlap both sides, so that a soft and familiar composition is created which has similarities with a ladder, an "objet trouvé", which was modefied to a bookshelf.
The whole shelf is made out of one central pillar and five boards in adjustable heights, which are made of steel sheet (with an epoxy powder coat) and it can be delivered in matt black, white and metallic silver.
