Buenos Aires – eight sack trucks stand in front of a hotel entrance. I think to myself: couldn’t this simple object resettle inside? The idea started to take shape in the taxi and I had to go straight to my desk as soon as I got home. From the sack truck I designed something like a mobile side table with a three-level shelf construction - from a single sheet of metal, designer Christoph Böninger recounts about the creation of the Book Cart.
The book cart comprises four elements: two cross-beams made of wood, the metal sheet for the shelf construction, wheels and on the back a cross made from leather, so that nothing falls out when moving. Four shapes, two colours.
That’s all. Awarded the iF Award in 2010
