The bowls from the Ultima Thule series were designed by Tapio Wirkkala for Iittala in 1968. Ultima Thule is already a classic piece that had a big influence on the Iittalas international success.
Ultima Thule is a collection of glasswork, on which you can see the long and hard work, which comes from the perfection of the glass processing technique. The unique effect of the glass and its appearance imitate nature. The shapes differ from piece to piece, depending on how the fluid glass meets the wooden models in the production.
