The graphic collection Terrazzo Paper is a common project of Norm Architects and Laura Fuaraschou. The collection is part of the collaboration between Menu and Paper Collective, which wanted different graphic designers and creatives to gather with their project.
The poster displays a geometric image with the classic Terrazzo pattern. Terrazzo is a popular floor covering known since antiquity, which is a mixture of different stones.
The posters show a paper with mosaic patterns, which becomes a three-dimensional object by means of being folded. The paper object releases a shadow in front of the monochrome background, which repeats the colours of the Terrazzo pattern, in order to suggest three-dimensionality.
Terrazzo plays with contrasts. The weightlessness of the medium (paper) and the pattern (stone) appear to be counterparts, creating interesting, visual tension.
”Great Design - Good Cause"
Paper Collective supports the non-profit organisation Charity Water with the Terrazzo posters. 10% of the revenue is invested in potable water for crisis areas. Paper Collective also focusses on environmentally friendly conditions regarding the production, which is the reason why the Terrazzo posters were honoured with the Nordic eco label Swan, which can be compared with the Blauer Engel (Germ. blue angel) seal of Germany.
The Terrazzo posters are Offset-Prints of 200 g Munken Lyx paper. The unpainted paper is FSC-certified and it convinces with its special archive-qualities.
The size of 50 x 70 cm of the posters is the reason why the wooden frames can be used with them with style.
The Terrazzo collection by norm Architects and Laura Faurschou includes four patterns in different colours.
