Each square-design from Zuzunaga starts with a picture of an urban surrounding. The British-Spanish design studio reduces digital pictures down to the pixels and creates the characteristic patterns out of the result.
Each Squares woollen blanket from Zuzunaga is hand-woven, offering an individual character and a high class appeal to them: Craftsmen of the Spanish workshop Teixidors from the Terrassa region near Barcelona transfer the digital images into the analogue world. Teixidors is a project, which offers the possibility of working creatively and of an integrated life to handicapped people.
Zuzunaga produces the woven blankets out of the Integrate: Time and Space Collection out of 100% merino wool from France.
The Zuzunaga Squares blankets were honoured with the first prize in the textiles category on the International Furniture Fair in New York 2012 for the unusual way of producing as well as the social and sustainable production.
