Unikko is a design icon. The flowers pattern from 1964 is fresh as ever, since good design doesn’t age. The designer Maija Isola achieved in catching the beauty of nature in a shiny, happy pattern with Unikko (Eng. “poppy”).
Maija Isola dared to dream. The Finnish designer was inspired by the beauty of things that surrounds her. With shiny colours, curved shapes and simple lines is how the Unikko pattern became one of the icons of Finnish design. The Unikko tea towel brings the world’s famous design into kitchens: The floury kitchen textile is charming, warm and friendly. These qualities noticeably encouraged the success of the flowers pattern.
Marimekko produces the Unikko tea towel of 55% cotton and 45% linen. This makes the dishcloths by Marimekko extremely absorbent. They are washable at 60°C.
