Products designed by Karim Rashid, such as the Garbino Can waste-paper basket, have become design icons and are found worldwide in museum collections.
The manufacturer Umbra has produced the Garbino Can since 1996. The successful waste-paper basket was the first product that Karim Rashid designed for Umbra and is considered one of the most-sold items by the Canadian company. The typical Rashid soft lines and shapes are also found on the Garbino Can.
Together with the larger Garbo Can and smaller Garbini Can, the Garbino Can won the Good Design (USA) award in 1997. Today you can find the classic waste-paper basket in the permanent collections at MoMA in New York; the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Athenaeum Museum in Chicago and the Museum of Decorative Arts in Montreal.
The curvy Garbino is manufactured by Umbra from shock and impact-resistant polypropylene.
