Impressive Architecture
Tectus is based on a model and drawings named "System 618" by Jo Niemeyer from 1996. Tomohiro Nakamura picked up and pursued this idea later on. The result is a timeless and creative toy for younger and older generations alike.
The cube, which is separated multiple times by the golden ratio, is encased by black surfaces. While playing, these surfaces turn into foundations, walls or roofs and the players become real architects. Everything is harmoniously integrated.
Two quantities are in a golden ratio if the ratio of the sum of both quantities to the larger quantity is equal to the ratio of the larger quantity to the smaller one. In art and architecture, this ratio is often regarded as an embodiment of the ideal proportion of aesthetics and harmony.
For Swiss company Naef, this ratio was an impulse to market their object under the name of “Tectus” in 2008. Without Tomohiro Nakamura, the project would probably never have come so far. Nonetheless, the idea and copyright are Jo Niemeyer’s who has worked intensively with the golden ratio for decades in the area of concrete art.
All Naef toys use solely high-quality wood from environmentally friendly plantation growth in Europe and highest quality paints. From babies to seniors, the different products offer happiness and enjoyment and inspire creativity and fantasy.
