In 1999, Alfredo Häberli created the Origo tableware for Finnish manufacturer Iittala. At the time, nobody predicted that this product would become a real design classic.
The Origo design by Alfredo Häberli was awarded several international prizes: the IF Design Award in 2002, the Excellent Swedish Design Award in 2001 and the Japanese Prize Zakka of the Year 2001.
A successful product should consist not just of remarkable design, but also of the best possible quality. This is especially important for the Origo series, which - according to Iittala - “stands the burden of being used every day for a long period of time without any problems”.
Dishwasher-safe, microwave-safe and also frost and heat-resistant, the Origo porcelain is a colourful enrichment from morning to evening.
Within a few years, Origo has managed to attract the world’s attention. It is available in orange, red, beige and brown; thus, everybody can find their favourite. Some say that Häberli captured the spirit of our time with these colours. Whether this is right will only be discovered in the future.
