Hello is a floor lamp which gives light and character to its surroundings through its simple, plain and playful appearance. It was designed by the Swedish designer Jonas Wagell. Its futuristic design, with round forms at the shade and frame of the lamp, gives Hello its own special personality. It is an object which discreetly draws attention to itself. The interior acrylic shade reflects the light and creates a soft and cosy surrounding light. The beech wood frame contrasts with the steel shade and gives the floor lamp a warm and playful expression.
The idea for Hello emerged when Jonas Wagell needed a large lamp for an architecture project – a lamp which needed to be similar to a mobile in terms of its shape. He designed a simple construction out of different, smaller aluminium shades which were fixed on to a piece of wood. This resulted in the idea of designing a floor lamp.
Jonas Wagell tells: “Many lamps appear either very technical or common and cheap. With floor lamps – and lamps in general – the choice of straight-line design, which still shows character and meets requirements for high quality and the best finishing, is extremely limited. Hello is an attempt to fill this gap.”
