In the time when it was designed by Robert Dudley Best it was revolutionary plain and for the at that time proportion about a clear and unfamiliar functional design. Probably because of that but also because Robert Dudley Best had closely contacts to Dessau, Weimar and Berlin, it counts as Bauhaus-Lamp.
The BL 1 Desk Lamp was designed in 1930. It stood at the desk of the secondly British prime minister Winston Churchill Whitehall and many architects and designers worked under its light.
Especially as working lamp, the BL 1 convinces, because it can be adjusted stageless, rotatable and slewable and can light up every corner. Pivotal point and lynchpin are the rotating element on the base and a ball joint at the lamp head. The lamp shade can be put in every wished position, through which the light can be adjusted to how you wanr it. A safe and strong stand makes the heavy ground plate at the foot of the lamp.
The Bestlite BL1 Desk Lamp by Gubi is available in different colours.
