The KAISER idell lamp 6631 luxury, which was designed by the German silversmith Christian Dell in the beginning of the 1930es, essentially embodies the style of the Bauhaus-movement at that time.
The lamp 6631 luxury even reached worldwide popularity. In numerous versions they appear since the 1960es again and again on the screen. Especially present they were on the office desks from the famous TV-commissioner and investigator. Therefore the table model 6631 is also lovingly called “commissioner lamp”.
The lamp is characterized by its formal closeness and bribes at the same time with only little basic manufacture elements. The smooth, asymmetrical reflector-screen with a diameter of 290 mm leads the form. It consists of high quality steel plate and it is hand-wet-lacquered from outside in its then original colours black, ivory or black-green high glossy. The through thought form of the reflector enables a technically mature light control combined with the optimal lamp position and the white interior lacquering.
Connected on top of the reflector is the bulb holder with the embossing “ORIGINAL KAISERidell”. The whole through thought in its function, really independent but still simple designed articulations enable wide flexibility and variability while it is used.
The upper ball joint that connects the reflector with the lamp arm was only available for the Kaiser-lamps of the idell series at that time. This makes it another important characteristic of the absolute originality. The lower hinge that fixes the lamp arm has a shapely spring clip that is robust but still filigree. The harmonic formed lamp arm looks like the reflector screen in its silhouette. It consists of pure brass and is manually artful, silver-soldered with its connected joint rods and hand polished. Finally itself high quality chromed, like all joints and screws.
The lamp food that is at the base of the lamp arm is decorated with a polished and high quality chromed décor-ring that also consists of brass. The foot that has a cast panel inside does not only enable a secure stand, but it also makes out the rounding off of the haptic whole image.
The whole weight of the lamp makes up about 4 kg. This is another reason why there is a thick felt layer to protect a probable sensitive platform under the ground panel. The connector from the 6631 R luxury to the electricity plug is realized by an at that time obligatory fabric covered cable.
The lamp was adapted to the technical guidelines of today including all test marks. Regarding the design, quality and handicraft manufacturing, the lamp is identic to the original. Reedited and produced is the “German piece of lightning culture” in Denmark from the "KAISERidell A/S" company which is based in Vejle. Also in our blog:
