The most original ideas mostly emerge when common objects are contemplated with new eyes. The Foscarini Caboche, for example, comes out of the observation of a bracelet of pearls. An idea of Patricia Urquiola and Eliana Gerotto, which became a prestigious – or better said – wonderful and modular lamp.
A piece of jewellery of creativity, but as well of technology. With one only, spherical element and one modular, arch-like structure it is possible to create a completely collection of models in crystal or golden editions. If the Foscarini Caboche is switched on, the light goes through the gaps between the transparent spheres from the inside and it is simultaneously spread from them as if there were numerous illuminated crystals, Are there diamonds? No, it’s Plexiglas.
The structure and the spheres transform Patricia’s and Eliana’s original idea in a pure form of light, which looks different depending on the angle they are looked at. Each sphere faces the light differently and reflects it originally, so that it becomes a light source on its own.
It took a lot of work transmitting this effect into an LED version. But as usual for Foscarini, the result is really presentable: An integrated chip grants that the intensity, diffusion and light temperature of the original are kept, in order to unfold the same emotional effect. It is only obvious that the Foscarini Caboche LED is more efficient and economical and that the illuminant is more longevity than the original.
The Caboche collection from Foscarini includes four different lamps. The pendant lamp is available in different sizes and colours as well as the wall and ceiling lamps and the table and floor lamps.
Foscarini’s Caboche pendant lamps are available in three different sizes, in golden-yellow or transparent editions as well as with different cable lengths.
