Plastic can be environmentally friendly!
”When I first thought of the design of my table lamp, I had the demand of questioning the cognition of common utilities of the material, known only as ‘plastic’ by most of the people. I wanted to go further than what was normal, not only regarding the function and the appearance, but also regarding the touch of the material”, explained Dirk Winkel.
The German designed soon realized the big deficit of most of the plastic products: the substance, the material itself. That’s the reason why the material is celebrated just the way it is in the Wästberg Winkel table lamp 127b2: straight forward, without hiding anything. The cable lying outside, the visible spring feathers and the geometrical outlines make the design this pure and honest.
Inside of the w127 there is energy efficient Multichip-LED-Technology. Multichip means that the single diodes are aligned like a cluster – this is how micro-shadows are avoided and the light becomes exceptionally homogeneous. The light of the working lamp by Wästberd is step less adjustable with an integrated IR-dimmer switch at the lamp’s head and it is glare-free because of a diffuser. Another technical refinement is the integrated timer, which switches the light off automatically after five hours of performance.
Wästberg produces the Winkel table lamp 127b2 out of injection moulded bio polyamide, fiberglass reinforced. About 60% of the lamp is made of biological material, gained out of the so-called wonder tree of tropical woods. The castor-oil producing plant doesn’t affect the aliments production: it is ecological and socially compatible.
Wästberg offers the lamps in two basic editions: The Winkel w127b1 has two joints and one arm, while the 2-arms w127b2 has three joints. Both editions are available with different mounting parts (foot, table clamp, pin and clamp) and in the colours white, grey, red and black.
