Design Lamp from the 1950s
The A809 floor lamps was designed by the designer and Artek founder Alvar Aalto in 1959.
Like many of his lamp designs, this model also has a shade made of sheet steel, which is especially impressive because of its unusual design. Three louvered cone-shaped diffusers stylishly blend together to provide direct light through the top and bottom openings, as well as indirect light through the shade itself. The lamp creates excellent background lighting in the living room and warm light in the entrance area.
Materials: Brass, Leather and Steel
The entire shade is held in place by a rod and a base, carefully covered with black leather. In contrast to this, the connecting pieces between the shade and the pole, as well as the rod and foot are made of brass, giving the lamp a touch of elegance. Even when switched off, the 1.68 cm high floor lamp leaves a lasting impression and is almost reminiscent of an ornate sculpture because of it extraordinary design.
