The small, round pendant lamp with the number A338 was designed by famous Finnish architect and designer, Alvar Aalto, in the 1950s.
Thanks to its distinctive shape, the lamp quickly gained the nickname ‘Bilberry’.
The Bilberry light is particularly suitable as a spotlight. Originally it was developed for the Maison Carré, the house of the renowned French gallery owner Louis Carré. The round light has a small opening which light can shine out through. For this reason it is suitable for targeted lighting of small areas.
It also has a halo of small holes at the top, through which the light can radiate. This illuminated halo gives the lamp a special aura when it is being used. The Pendant Lamp A338 by Artek is delivered complete with ceiling power plug and a 2.5m-long white plastic cable. As a light source for Bilberry, the manufacturer Artek recommends a 40 W light bulb with an E27 versionsocket or an energy-saving lamp with 9 W.
