Barbecue Chips made of Port Wine Barrels
The Cook in Wood port wine BBQ smoking chips are especially suited for vegetables, poultry, pork, and lamb and unfold their special flavour when heated: on the charcoal grill, gas grill or wood-burning stove.
Fruity Aroma for the BBQ
Port wine, in short port, is a sweet red wine. Each port is stored for at least two to a maximum of six years in oak barrels, in which it breathes little and matures slowly . The intensity of this speciality penetrates deep into the wood, and develops a strong, fruity aroma of spices, nuts, dried fruits, dates, caramel, vanilla and citrus when heating the smoking chips.
Special Aroma Process
Cook in Wood does not only recycle the barrique barrels and is thus environmentally friendly, but the taste of the outstanding wines and spirits will not be lost. Thanks to a special process by Cook in Wood, the formative culinary characteristics such as taste and flavour are retained over months and years in the smoking wood chunks. Quite the contrast to artificially scented or flavoured products, the effect of which evaporates quickly.
Soak the desired amount of aromatic wood chips in water for at least 30 to a maximum of 60 minutes and pour the excess water off before filling the chips in a perforated grill or smoking bowl. They are suitable for a gas grill as well as for a charcoal grill.
The smoking chips are produced from oak staves from traditional port wine barrels made of French, American and European oak.
