Espresso is a Milan coffee making procedure where hot water is pressed through very fine grinded coffee powder with high pressure. The same coffee beans as for normal coffee are used for espresso; however the beans are roasted a bit darker. The bean loses more caffeine and coffee acids as if it reminded lighter in common coffee roasting procedures. Espresso therefore contains less caffeine than filtered coffee if both are made out of the same amount of coffee powder, whereby the relative caffeine amount of espresso is still higher because of the little water used for the preparation. During the preparation of espresso, coffee powder and hot water have less contact then during coffee preparation.
80 ml of espresso fit in the espresso cups by Eva Solo; this exactly accords to the adjustments of many common capsule coffee machines. The cup is made out of porcelain, coated with silicone. This ensures good hold and avoids hot fingers.
The espresso cups are dishwasher safe, however silicone and porcelain should be separated before placed in the dishwasher. Available in different colours.
