Eero Saarinen designed the first edition of the Tulip chair in 1953, presenting the basic of a revolutionary design classic among all chairs – there has never been a chair with one leg looking like such a harmonic piece before. The Tulip collection was developed with the manufacturer Knoll, and besides more seats it also includes a stool.
The purist designed Tulip stool reminds us of the flowers of the same name and it combines modernity with classic Scandinavian design. The background of the design of Tulip is described by Eero Saarinen as follows: ”This is how four leg chairs as we knew them became one leg chairs.”
The seat of the Tulip by Knoll is made of plastic and reinforced with fiberglass. It lies on a rotatable trumpet foot, cast out of weightless metal and coated with a Rilsan surface.
Moreover there are further pieces of furniture available of the Tulip collection: The chair is also available as armchair. The Tulip chair can be ordered with a rotatable seat and the inside can be ordered upholstered or with a separate cushion. The covers are available with different fabrics and in different colours.
We will gladly advise you regarding the colour and the shape of your individual Tulip pieces.
