Front Design

Front Design is a female design duo from Stockholm in Sweden. Sofia Lagerkvist and Anna Lindgren met at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design. What their work has in common is that it throws conventional ideas overboard – both in the product itself and in the manufacturing process.

For one line of home accessories, for example, the duo enlisted the help of real animals. Rats gnawed wallpaper, beetles ate into table surfaces and the flight path of flies around a light created a lampshade design. One furniture collection was presented under the motto "Furniture to fall in love with at first sight, or hate forever". With their exciting, provocative designs, the duo has made its mark internationally.

Fascinated by magic, the two designers want to create furniture and home accessories that have a life of their own and move people – even if they are irrational. Compromise is foreign to them, so they experiment freely. That's why the Stockholm duo is now regarded as a young, sought-after team attracting attention worldwide. The creative, unconventional Horse Lamp for Moooi is a striking example of their original style.

Polycarbonate Newspaper Rack

An unexpected gust of wind causes the pages of a newspaper to flutter. This was the creative inspiration for the Front Page newspaper rack, designed by the Swedish design team Front for Kartell . The Front Page design freezes the pages in mid-flip, creating a stylistically appealing and elegant piece of small furniture with curved forms, whose shelves open in a smooth semicircle.
It’s up to you to fill the blank pages of Front Page with content: Each open “page” offers space to store magazines, newspapers, or books. The curved edges of each shelf prevent your reading material from slipping off.
Kartell manufactures the Front Page magazine rack from polycarbonate in several transparent colors and two opaque colors. The available colors are inspired by some of the most visually striking magazines and daily newspapers, such as the red of *Time* magazine or the yellow of *National Geographic*.

Side Table with Checkerboard Pattern

The " Chess Table " by Front-Design for Moooi is a clever side table with two functions.
