Attractive styling is not enough – the Design Plus Award has been given for products that persuasively combine aesthetic qualities and functionality since 1983. The competition is organised by the Design and Life Initiative (Initiative Form und Leben) and sponsored by Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH, the German Design Council (Rat für Formgebung), Frankfurt, and the Association of the German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (Industrie- und Handelskammertag – DIHK), Berlin.
Chances of being selected by the renowned experts of the jury have consumer goods that persuasively combine aesthetic qualities and functionality, and that have not been on the market for more than two years. The award-winning products will be on show in an exhibition in the Galleria throughout Ambiente.
This year, 26 products from 20 companies from 11 countries were awarded on the Ambiente fair 2011 with the Design Plus seal. Among the winners there are well known brands as well as innovative niche providers whose products especially came from the table and kitchen area. But also furnishing accessories and home textiles were prize honored.
These are all products that can lovingly be used while cooking or attending guests, while having dinner or relaxing and simply feeling good, because of their beautiful look, and their exceptional haptic. Because they take off of the mass with their excellent handing, a special feature or an innovative technique. But more than everything else, this products are beloved because their aesthetic and functionality are elaborately combined and stand exemplarily for good design.
