iF product design award 2014

From the amount of information over the selected material up to the function: The spectrum of criteria the design is valued with is big and it includes different aspects. The eyes of an international experts jury already honoured 1,220 presentations, which already got an iF award 2014.

49 international design experts met in January 2014 on the fairgrounds in Hannover, and a total of 3,249 presentations in 17 categories of the iF product design award 2014 were filled with winners. The presentations came from 48 countries – again proving how international the iF competition is and how big the cultural panorama of the presented products is. After intense discussions the jurors decided to give the iF label to 1,220 products. 50 presentations convinced the jurors more than the others, being honoured with the iF gold as prove for their unusual design quality.

“The meaning of design grows in areas, where it wasn’t really important before. That’s amazing. The changed approach of design e.g. led to special performances in medical areas, but also in other disciplines where e.g. it was important to focus on users’ friendliness and an intelligent processing of materials. That development lets us expect a lot for the future of design”, explained the jurors.

This years’ winners were honoured by the iF manager Ralph Wiegmann in the event of the iF design awards night – the glamorous awarding which took time for the third time in the BMW World in Munich – the 50 best competitors got an iF gold award.

The winners of the iF gold award are, among others, Leimu and Vakka by Iittala, as well as the shelving system Add from Flötotto.
