Where old craftsmanship meets modern design.
Founded in 1999 at Dorf 25 by Stefan Spitz. The small company stands in the tradition of the over 100-year old family business that Stefan Spitz manages in the fourth generation.
From an experienced, accredited turnery, the company has developed into a modern business that still puts woodworking at the core of its operation. At the family business’s headquarters, located in a historic Black Forest house built in 1784, the company continues to shape and word wood according to old craft tradition while also incorporating modern techniques.
The results are high-quality products with pleasing aesthetics and innovative design that highlights the natural qualities of wood.
The goal of Design im Dorf is to harmoniously combine good design with solid craftsmanship. Great importance is placed on the quality of manufacturing and modeling. A growing number of design awards such as DESIGN PLUS, FORM 95, FORM 2006, FORM 2008, FORM 2009 are a testament to the success of this philosophy. To meet his high standards, Stefan Spitz works together with experienced designers who independently create products on behalf of Design im Dorf. The focus of the collection is on gifts and items for tables, kitchens and decorations. Design im Dorf processes exclusively local woods that are sourced from sawmills in the vicinity. All products are treated with environmentally friendly oils and waxes. It is the company’s philosophy to treat materials naturally and with care, to dispose of wood waste in a responsible way and to use environmentally friendly packaging.
