Alan Chan was born in the year 1950. It is one of the few in Hong Kong trained designers that achieved international recognition. The only apprenticeship that Chan got in that area was an evening course in Graphic Design, graduating in the 1970s in Hong Kong.
Despite or just because of that, Alan Chan received more than 500 local and international design awards until today. He was chosen designer of the year by the Artists’ Gild Hong Kong in 1989 and his company, the Alan Chan Company was chosen the best graphic design company of the world in New York in 1996.
The original highlight of his career was the inclusion of his posters and clock designs in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco in 1997.
