Ceramic & product design from Denmark
Birgitte Due Madsen graduated in 2005 in ceramics at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design in Bornholm. In the same year, Madsen received the arts and crafts award 1879 which honoured her pottery designs from the senior year.
In addition to her degree in ceramic design, Madsen devoted to the study of product design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design in Copenhagen from 2005 to 2008.
Birgitte Due Madsen combines classic ceramic work with modern industrial design. Thereby the Scandinavian designer combines her knowledge of materials and traditional methods of production with a reduced and minimalistic language of forms.
The elegant ceramic designs and other design from Due Madsen, inspire with a delicate, poetic colour and strict geometric elements. The designs of Due Madsen convince with their skilled interplay of design and art, exhibited in museums such as the art gallery Charlotte Borg, the design museum Denmark, art museum Bornholm and the National Ceramics Museum in Grimmerhus, inspire the design of maggots due by a skilful combination of design and arts and crafts.
