Daniel Lorch (*1980 in Baden-Baden) studied Communication Design at the HTWG-Konstanz at Michele Baviera. He worked at Integral Ruedi Baur et associés in Paris before he graduated in 2006. In the same year he moved to Berlin and started to design products auto-didactically. The first orders came with enthusiasm and curiosity for the world of things and that’s how Daniel Lorch Industrial Design as founded in 2010. The office works for international companies with design and research projects of furniture and light, industrial design and exposition design since then.
The main interest of his office is the research of the relation of people to things; society and technology are part of continuous changes. This relation breaks some relations to object types, objects we always considered self-evident. The aim of DLID is to manufacture new active relations that expand our working skills and prepare them for new époques by means of designing relevant object types that react to changes.
Daniel Lorch is co-founder of L&Z, his works were published in Phaidon, Fast Company, Form, Architectural Digest, Domus, Gestalten editorial and many more and exposed in different places, such as the Interieur Biennale (Kortijk), the International Craft Biennale (Cheongju) and the Saxony Industry Museum and they were honoured with the iF Concept Award, the Design Plus Award (Design Council) and the Design Report Award (Salone Satelite) / Special Mention, among others.
