Jan Armgardt is a German designer who likes to work experimentally in addition to developing classic furniture design, having already published important books and scientific research essays.
Jan Armgardt entered design in a classic way: after being trained as a carpenter, the Bavarian studied interior architecture. Afterwards Armgardt worked in an office of interior architecture, concentrating on furniture design and becoming independent in the end: He has a factory for upholstered furniture and also founded a carpentry and a design office.
Jan Armgardt mainly works as designer today. In the upper Bavarian Schondorf is where he designs products, but still influencing other areas: He teaches at universities, organises experimental expositions at the border between arts, and workshops, books and scientific research are also some of his activities.
