Jatta Salonen is a Finnish designer who created different patterns for Marimekko.
Jatta Salonen brought the simple and nature inspired prints back to Marmekko together with Elina Helenius in the 1980s and 1990s. Those patterns were typical for the manufacturer in the 50s. While the patterns were almost forgotten in the meantime, it was also Salonen’s work who brought them back into the assortment.
The Finnish designer is also known for her colourful, almost naïve acting patterns. An example therefore is the Onnimanni pattern which seems to be made for children. The graphic conciseness and the friendly colours of the designs of Jatta Salonen however, also delight adults.
