Toshiyuki Kita

Toshiyuki Kita was born in Japan in the year 1942 and studied Design at the Naniwa Design College in Osaka.

After he designed new products for an aluminium company after his degree, he founded his own design studio in 1967. There he began with the research of contemporaneous design objects and handmade products.

In 1969 Toshiyuki Kita moved his working residence to Italy. In the following period he worked in the area of industrial design and created furniture, televisions, household appliance and other objects for different internationally known manufacturers like Cassina, Moroso and Magis.

Some of his products are in museums all around the world, among them are the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich.

Moreover Toshiyuki Kita has been honored with diverse awards for his products.

Beside his work as designer, Toshiyuki Kita also is professor for Product Design at the Osaka University of Art and leads seminars and workshops not only in Asia, but also in Europe.
